Mountain Everest

It is the highest mountain on the planet with 8,848 meters above sea level. Its western name was a tribute to George Everest, a British Empire geographer and cartographer who worked in the area between 1830 and 1843.

Nepalese call her Sagarmatha («Front of Heaven»), while Tibetans know her as Chomolungma («Mother of the universe»).
