Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announced sales, production and export results for August 2022, as well as cumulative results from January to August, including for subsidiaries Daihatsu and Hino.
Despite the impact of the semiconductor shortage and the spread of COVID-19, production reached a record level in August both globally and overseas thanks to the efforts of suppliers, especially in high-demand regions, the company said.
«The situation remains difficult to predict due to the shortage of semiconductors and COVID-19. Nevertheless, we will continue to closely monitor the situation with the supply of spare parts and minimize the sudden reduction in production, making every effort to deliver as many cars to our customers as soon as possible,» the automaker said.
According to Toyota, in August, sales of Toyota vehicles increased worldwide by 3.8% to 777,047 units. The subsidiary brand Hino has a more modest result – +0.6%, 12,099 cars. The largest increase was shown by the Daihatsu brand, whose sales rose to 54,882 units, which corresponds to an increase of 4.5% compared to August 2021.
